What do you say when instead of words, you’re just feeling an endless array of emotions? I teared up like 20 gajillion times today as I basked in the sunshiney joy that was this gay Ace Hotel wedding, this celebration of wonder, this rallying of so many colossally great human beings. It was my wedding anniversary this same weekend, and I couldn’t ask for a better gift than the depth of creative energy, style, love, and laughter that was this wild day. My husband got adorably annoyed at how I oohed and aaahed over these boys when we went out to celebrate our anniversary the next day—he claimed I might just love them more than him. Ooops!

Working with the team from After the Engagement is always an absolute dream, and they had this perfect queer celebration flowing effortlessly from the start. From getting ready together with their furball of delight (Buster) to drinks with their besties to their handfasting ceremony by the amazing Bethel Nathan to speeches that left us in fits of giggles and tears to a spectacular wrap-up with everyone leaping into the pool fully clothed—including yours truly—it was the kind of day we dream about. Full of feels, memories, and people we’ll cherish forever and ever. This here? This is what it’s all about and this is what leaves me feeling like the very luckiest person around. I’m so, so, so glad to have these wonderful folks in my life—the kind of people that inspire others, that make us believe the world is good and we can do anything. Beyond privileged to document the tender, ridiculous, wild, and wonderful experience shared by this community that welcomed us with such wide open arms.
Ryan and Tim are beyond creative wunderkids, so the vast majority of the design and the style of this day came from them. They made these invites, for example. How much do we LOVE?
Having Buster along for the ride was a must. He’s just the sweetest, furriest, snaggle-toothiest cutie.
Ryan and Tim decided against having a formal wedding party but were in favor of treating their family formals with a little extra zest. So basically, we had the most fun family groupings ever!
The story behind these purple paper wisteria flowers everywhere is kind of amazing. They sourced it *all* from a merchandising shop display—check out the reception space later to see how much of it there was!
I might’ve cried a little. Not gonna lie, this ceremony was incredible.
Their revelers brought the sass. ‘Nuff said.
OMG I love them so much, and we had the best time, and damn this world shines brighter because of this union.
Their kitschy cowboy theme was everything adorable.
Man, I cannot say enough about how fun it is to have amazing live music on your wedding day!
I mean they couldn’t NOT end the night in the pool, right? So I joined them because YOLO and whatever the kids are saying.
