It’s not every day I get to participate in a San Diego elopement quite this level of intimate. This union of two people included their two kids and an old friend as their officiant, and that was 100% it. And it was magic. From hanging out at their home to getting kicked off the County Admin Building grounds for bringing their own officiant (wha???), to deciding to go exploring in Balboa Park, and finding the perfect lush green setting for their vows. It was short and sweet and so full of the thing that really counts—love.
I love Balboa Park elopements for that tenderness, but I also love that they brought their wacky, silly selves. The kids invented a special wedding handshake, the dudes were making off-color jokes from back in their SEAL team days, and everyone was laughing their rears off. It was such a good day with good people, and that’s all you really need. Special shout out to my girl The Floral Craft for the delightful surprise of finding out she’d crafted those epic bouquets, and to Stacy Vizcarra for amazing faces, and Street Evil for amazing rings. Big love for all these fine folks!
