They say life is what happens when you’re making other plans. Well, this wedding was life-filled in a big way and I’m really grateful for the twists and turns that led to the final experience. Laura & Jack planned a seaside ceremony followed by a modern outdoor reception. Mother Nature had other ideas. With San Diego’s fierce rainstorm last week, the original plans required some major adaptation, and I loved how willing these two and their community were to roll with the punches. And what emerged for me was the fulfillment of having expectations thrown out of whack in favor of plenty of surprises to keep us on our toes and delight us in unexpected ways. Perfection is overrated. Talk about setting you up for a healthy marriage: handling the rainstorms of life is all sorts of important. This gallery is a collection of small moments with big impact, of laughter through weird circumstance, of feelings of joy and silliness and keeping your spirits up when life throws you a curveball. And it was a dang blast.
