There’s not one way for families to be. In this case, capturing a fun crew that includes aunt & uncle, nephews, and grandma, was just as valid as any other family group. Jill has been working with me as my second shooter for over a decade and getting the chance to document her fun, wacky family was a joy. They’re deeply involved in their nephew’s lives and I think that’s such an important tender loving thing to document. All different kinds of connections matter, and family isn’t always defined by expected relationships, let alone blood. So I am all for documenting your connections, whatever they look like.
