Instead of trying to describe this visionary, wild, soulful day in the dusty hills between Joshua Tree and Pioneertown, I’m just going to go ahead and show and tell. Words don’t really capture the unconventional creativity and dynamic energy that brought us to the desert to document these two as they committed their lives to one-another. I’m still trying to catch my breath from all this otherworldy wonder. Karli and Lyle, you two are extraordinary.

These two creatives were so inspired by the desert and knew it was the perfect place to unite their lives while rallying all their favorite people. They had guest experience at the forefront of their mind from the beginning, and were really looking forward to giving everyone a night to remember. After an adventure in the Joshua Tree area some time back, they’d ended up literally stumbling upon the magic of the Ruin Venue, which they ultimately chose as their ceremony and dinner site; the venue really feels like you just pulled over on the side of the road with the magic of the high desert behind you. It features the ruined remains of an old desert homestead, but was brought back to life beautifully with additional new architectural features to die for.

They made their home base in Palm Springs at the classic Parker Meridien. Guests were bussed in from the Parker straight into the desert, and were welcomed by a mariachi ensemble, and a Sam Elliot-esque officiant in full cowboy hat and suit as the desert sun sunk low in the sky. Then out wandered our incredibly glamorous couple. L in powder blue suit and 10-gallon hat, K in an incredible red and coral crocheted dress by Naeem Khan, and a veil she dyed red herself! Surrounded by desert boulders and so much support, they say their I-dos.

After a ceremony full of laughter and love, guests were serenaded by the mariachis as everyone walked to cocktail hour amidst the ruins and desert brush, enjoying tray passed bites by the always incredible Miho Catering Co and signature cocktails by Barcon. Homestyle dinner was served family style under the house-shaped structure while the stars above and market lights twinkled, and a string quartet played. Everything was perfectly curated to fit their western cowboy meets bohemian desert chic vibe, from the bountiful draping flowers to the music to the menu to the farm-style tables. After dinner and an impromptu performance by friends, guests were then whisked back to the Parker for a wild dance party decorated with tons of neon signs, and dined on late night snacks of ice cream and tacos. Doesn’t get much better than this!

Insanely beautiful but more importantly just oozing with coolness—-how do you find these people?! They are so lucky to have found you!
I definitely feel like a truly lucky lass! Thank you so much!
I am obsessed with this post! The location they chose pairs beautifully with the colorful South of the Border styled theme. I feel as if am in a desert dream, and at any moment Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison will pop out from around a corner at any moment.
Haha, I adore that reference! True wild west vibes, tombstone style! Thanks so much.
