These two gorgeous and sweet souls seriously BROUGHT IT. Might’ve been the hottest day of the year, and we may have been facing major issues including wildfires and an all-day blackout before their events, but no biggie, it was still a wildly joyful event filled with bright colors, tender moments, and awesome moves on the dance floor. It was our first experience shooting a Nigerian wedding, and the boisterous level of spirit and celebration was through the roof. Yes, we learned much about Nigerian time (hint: timeliness is a low-ranking priority), but we also got to experience so many cultural traditions and celebrate with people who literally flew over from Nigeria. Joy. What an incredible multicultural celebration.

Loved that they both started the day at their families’ homes. Getting ready in a home space ups the comfort level in a major way. Didn’t hurt that those homes were gorgeous. ;)

We truly believe that Whitney doesn’t realize how gorgeous she is. She exudes the kind of regal beauty reserved for royalty. We loved how much fun energy she brought to portraits… a mix of serenity and sass.

This first look moment right here. It was TOP SECRET at the time but I’m pretty sure we can let the cat out of the bag—YES, they saw each other for a wee sneak peek. Totally worth it, especially when everything else ran so late and we had very little time for portraits later on!

Dapper AF tho.

Yeah. Not joking about those wildfires in the hills behind us. These helicopters kept looping down here to pick up pond water to put out fires. It was cray. And during the ceremony! We had to pause a few times—what a memorable ceremonial event! Also, we think this is the most colorful wedding we’ve ever attended.

Okay, this reception was lit. And how awesome are their traditional Nigerian outfits?!

O M G, Jas. This wedding is so gorgeous, I could gush all the live long day. The colors, the happiness, the crazy gorgeous couple (that silhouette under the tree!!!).
Most of all though I love how timeliness was not a factor here! More time to slow down and enjoy the day as it happens rather than rush through it.
Thanks for always bein’ one helluva inspiration! <3
Aw, Kim, you are SO sweet. Them’s some major compliments, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate them! These two totally knocked my socks off! Despite some major delays and unexpected events, the day just happened in the bestest way. <3
