Here’s the thing. Morocco isn’t really what we expected. Foolish westerners, I guess we imagined it was a big middle eastern style desert, and not much else. We were utterly unprepared, as a result, for the amazingness that was our journey through the countryside. Once we left Marrakech (yes, check that out if you wanna see the first, more urban section of our Moroccan adventure), we expected heat but the cool temperatures and wild heights as we crossed the mountains wowed us before we eventually did make it to the edge of the Sahara. Even that took us by surprise. It sidles right up to the city, like it’s no big deal. Just a giant desert, wanna hitch a ride on a camel to a Berber camp? YOU BET. So yeah, we rode camels in the desert the same day that we fed snow monkeys. Man, sometimes life is just crazy. At all times, however, Morocco was pretty magical.
