These two creative souls got married in their very own Silverlake backyard overlooking LA, with only their closest and dearest and it was intimate, tender, chill AF magic. Utter delight at how full their home is of who they are, and who their community is. So many little details. They told me stories of the interesting and strange items left in the home when they bought it, and how they turned those items into art, from fencing, to old phones.
I’m also immensely partial to pets at weddings, so having their cats join in the fun was a total treat. Loved the strange and interesting experience of them getting ready in houses side by side, and of them rallying just their very nearest and dearest in a teeny private ceremony in the backyard, before the larger dessert celebration in the front yard. So many soulful moments at this amazing union of these two Michigan-born adventurous creatives that made LA home!

Michigan represent. Also, dad reading his book and smoking his pipe is everything.

There were just so many teeny little tender moments that added up to something that warms the heart ten times over.

This view that is what they wake up to every morning. Something else, right? A gorgeous setting for the most important day of your life.

It was just a small group for the super intimate ceremony, and then a larger group joined them for evening desserts and drinks. Genius, right?!

I love how these two love with equal parts tenderness and silliness and a sweet little gleefulness.

It was so very cool—with a nod to heritage, they had a middle eastern band play, and Chris’ dad taught everyone to dance: “Basically, you do a move like this, like screwing in a lightbulb.”
