When Chase and Aaron, the very most adorable, laughter-ridden creatives ever, contacted me, I knew I was on-board with their wedding plans immediately. It’s going to be what I’d formally refer to as a mega-blast. What I was unprepared for was their delightful engagement session ideas, foolishly, of course, because these two are crazy talented. A graphic design creative and architect (and handyman)-turned-entrepreneur, I should have known how utterly charming their ideas would be. But more than that—how utterly and fearlessly open they would be to sharing their love. Featuring chess, a delightful picnic trek in the woods, dueling banjos, and everything they needed for a quick lean-to campsite, this whole day was full of shining happiness.

Chase and Aaron met for the first time at Rebecca’s coffeeshop in South Park. She was playing chess, and they oggled each other until she sent a friend after him to insist he ring her up. Of course we had to start our journey there. Then we packed up the car and headed out east to dig up a great picnicking spot, while singing and dancing a jam session in the car. To Tom Petty, on casette. ROCK AND ROLL!

Armed with the most delicious picnicking goodies, delightful maps, and vintage cratey goodness, these two hauled their banjos with them and we hit the ground cuddling. The adorableness was almost unbearable. I’d also like to point out that Aaron brought a good five or six possible alternate shirts to change into and yes, THEY WERE ALL PLAID. These two are just the most high-fivable, fun, silly, happy charmers, and though we have known each other for only a few weeks, I truly felt like we were old friends on an epic road trip. They laugh with reckless abandon and are full of love and joy. And man—that is what it’s all about.

Our adventures didn’t stop there. Yup, all sorts of bohemian-vintage charm yet awaited us as these two collaborated on building the sweetest lean-to tent out of army surplus goods, to let camping inspire. With cuddling and piggybacking along paths to secret places, exploration over giant tree trunks, canoodling in the forest (yeah!), and carving things into bark, too. Much smooching occurred—in trees, on trees, near trees, and most certainly in the DIY tent! Can you blame them?

Chase and Aaron are a magical example of exactly what love should be all about—inspiration, energy, wonder, peals of laughter, a sense of carefree adventure, never taking themselves too seriously, and the magic glow-from-within that follows their locked eyes. It’s a joy to be around, and it truly inspires. Also, they’re just about the most charmingly stylish kooks I know. Yep—their wedding is pretty much guaranteed to be astonishingly grand. After this wildly ridiculous sesh, Chase texted me and said, “I might have accidentally been referring to you as my friend when I talk about “the time Aaron and I and our friend Jasmine went on an epic road trip to a field and she was so funny and the best and she’s shooting our wedding and we are STOKED.’”
Yeah—we may have only met last month, but we are already such old friends, it’s ridiculous. Hanging out with them just about made my heart burst, so I hope these photographs offer you that same sense of magic and wonder.

you are so wildly talented, srsly. these pics are amazing. you can SEE their light and love. amazing.
You are so lovely to say such a charming thing! I agree, though—they ooze light and love and magic!

A bold statement, but entirely possible!
I love these…even better than Part Two…which I didn’t know was possible. And I love how they came all prepared with scenes in their heads and props in their hands. And you captured everything in such a gorgeous and honest way. I heart you!
You are too much lovely. Thank you. They came with such an awesome selection of delightful items, but mostly it was their radiant love that pretty much made everything amazing!
Oops…and what I meant by “even better than part two” was “even better than part one”! What a silly goose I am. :P
How I wish I had known you 7-8 years ago. I would have paid you handsomely to take our wedding photos. You make me want to renew my vows!
Aw, thanks, Lauren! Not only is it never too late for a photo sesh, but I would be eager to do one with you that featured your very own banjo! ;)
