Swoonsville. It’s where I’m at, going through the dreamy photographs from this magical session. They kissed in a babbling brook. They snuggled in a cozy blanket beneath a canopy of trees. They trekked through fields of wild. They stretched out over gnarled tree roots, watching the river flow. Yes, this session was a dream.

We started our session exploring a forest, finding paths bathed in gold and pockets of light between gnarled branches and speckled shadows. These two had a few nerves going into shooting, and I thought they might need me to make a bunch of suggestions, but within minutes, they were all aglow, snuggly and shamelessly kissing it up. Perfect. So, of course, the next logical step was to climb a tree.

Martha and Alex are active, outdoor enthusiasts and spend lots of time on the water. Their wedding will be at a yacht club on the bay, so they wanted their e-sesh to contrast that. I thought of the idea of shooting by a lovely stream, as it loops back to being on and in the water, which is such a huge part of their lives. And BOY were they on board. They jumped at the idea of rolling up their trousers and wading in. Swoon.

And a moment wrapped in a cozy blanket is always a must. I love how autumnal this day felt, how crisply alive.

We found an immense pocket of dreams and delight and mystery. They stopped in the brush and let me get weak in the knees at their incredibly heavenly magic. Also, let’s talk about their freckles. Their glorious, glorious freckles. Now, I’m a freckled girl, and I’ve had to grow up coming to terms with my weird freckles. Their freckles? They could launch a thousand ships. They could make angels sing.

It was a day full of beauty and laughter and delighted gasping (me) and exploring and all good things. I can’t wait for this awesome wedding.
