In this strange time of pandemic lockdown life, and weddings being so heavily impacted by the current state of things, sharing this absolutely joy of an elopement adventure is bringing me so much happiness today. Especially since this month would have been San Diego’s Pride Parade. In the face of not being able to celebrate pride, I am glad to share this gorgeous day, at least.
My heart almost couldn’t handle all the magic and wonder and joy that emerged from Lauren & Cassidy’s totally dreamy elopement in San Diego. These adventurous women traveled out from Arizona for an intimate elopement that kicked off at the San Diego courthouse and wandered through Balboa Park. Both were glowing and gorgeous in their laid-back wedding dresses and lush bouquets. And how rad was Cassidi’s succulent headpiece by La Belle Bloom? We pit-stopped for pizza and beer at Amplified Ale Works and wrapped the day on Coronado Beach to watch the sunset and wander in the ocean.
Coming from a state where it’s a lot harder to be openly out without fear of repercussion, it was oh-so special to witness them feeling truly so comfortable to love freely and openly, here in San Diego. They commented on overhearing a child ask their dad about the two girls kissing, and his perfect response about their love on their wedding day floored them. Witnessing the impact of the freedom to be themselves on their wedding day got me emotional, not gonna lie. Because what that illustrates is how many places it’s unsafe to do so. Even here throughout the USA. Maybe especially. I am hungry for change and these two helped further motivate that in me.
After witnessing their commitment to one another and touring the historic gardens, Spanish-inspired architecture, and grand organ pavilion of Balboa Park; watching these two giggle with delight while splashing in the gentle waves of the ocean was such a dream. Their love is inspiring, and giving them an adventurous tour of San Diego’s highlights as a major part of their private elopement was a special treat. For all those evaluating whether to revise any aspects of your wedding, or to potentially hold an elopement now and a reception later, I’m here to help and I think this day shows what a joy it can be.
