Goodbye, Prop 8. See ya, DOMA. This is an anniversary worth celebrating in the biggest way. As pride month comes to a close, and after the recent horrific tragedy in Orlando, now more than ever, we think it’s vital that we draw attention to some major turning points in the fight for equal rights. Forty-seven years ago today, was the first night of the Stonewall Riots (which is why, in fact, we celebrate pride in June). Thirteen years ago, on June 26th, we struck down wrongful laws in Lawrence v Texas. Three years ago, on June 26th, 2013, we shut down DOMA and Prop 8. Only one year ago, also on June 26th, same-sex marriage bans were struck down across this nation.
We are so proud to see these hard-fought changes come to fruition, and we just wanted to give the biggest, baddest, boldest high-fives to all our former and future LGBT couples. We’ve been fortunate to work with some incredible couples and are always game to shoot same-sex weddings in San Diego and beyond. Whether your ceremony ceremony is legal, civil, informal, nontraditional, in a courthouse, in a backyard, or anywhere else you set your sights on… we’re so excited for you to make it yours on your own terms. We love you, we support you, and we can’t wait to work with you!
